Richard Wilson

Dr Richard Wilson is an arboricultural expert who works across England and Wales. He is The Blue Tree Company’s Associate Arboricultural Consultant.

Richard grew up fascinated by the natural environment and developed a passion for tree conservation and management. This passion led to the purchase of Moss Wood in Pembrokeshire, and was instrumental in building a successful tree surgery business in Hertfordshire. As well as providing wide-ranging experience in all aspects of tree care, the company enabled Richard to become fully qualified in practical tree management as well as the more theoretical aspects of arboriculture.

Richard has developed a reputation for advocating sensible tree conservation. He works alongside The Blue Tree Company’s team to provide clear management advice and delivers a high-quality service to our clients. He also works with both the Resistograph and Picus Sonic Tomograph, which can provide objective tree health and safety data, helping us provide advice for the potential retention of trees that might otherwise be felled.

Richard is a Chartered Arboriculturist, holds the Professional Diploma in Arboriculture and the Technician’s Certificate in Arboriculture, both of the Royal Forestry Society. He is a Professional Member of both the Arboricultural Association and of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. Richard is committed to professionalism in the industry and became a Registered Consultant of the Arboricultural Association in January 2019.

In 2013 he was awarded the Royal Forestry Society/Lockhart Garratt Award after coming top in the Level 6 PDArb exams.

He is happiest when surrounded by nature, and divides his time between arboriculture, mountaineering and running a smallholding with his wife, Sally.
