At The Blue Tree Company, we know that trees do more than grow—they connect people, spark curiosity, and help shape resilient, biodiverse communities. That’s why we’re delighted to have partnered with Kingshott School in Hitchin as part of our Growing Greener Communities Together initiative.
This collaboration saw the donation and planting of two fruit-bearing cherry trees in the school grounds—contributions that align perfectly with Kingshott’s ongoing commitment to biodiversity and outdoor learning.
A Living Contribution to Learning
Kingshott School has a vibrant and forward-thinking approach to environmental education. When they shared their vision of enhancing biodiversity across their grounds, we knew we could support it in a meaningful way.
The two cherry trees—a flowering Kansan variety—were carefully chosen to provide both aesthetic and ecological benefits. Planted near the Astro pitch on the far side of the new field, they’re perfectly positioned to thrive, drawing attention each spring with their striking pink blossom and encouraging a deeper connection with nature for pupils of all ages.
Involving the Eco Committee
Tree planting is always better with a bit of muddy teamwork, and the enthusiastic members of Kingshott’s Senior Eco Committee certainly brought energy to the task! On Monday 19th January, students joined us on site for the planting.
Under the guidance of our arborists, they helped settle the young trees into their new home, learning along the way about:
- Tree anatomy and health
- Why species selection matters for biodiversity
- How trees support pollinators and wildlife
- How to care for young trees through their first seasons
Moments like these are what make our community work so rewarding. Seeing students engage hands-on with environmental stewardship reminds us that planting trees is about more than landscape—it’s about legacy.
Why Cherry Trees?
